Tahreni's story
Tahreni grew up in a village (Tchundwa) near the Kiunga Marine National Reserve in the Lamu District of Northern Kenya and went to primary school nearby. She attended secondary and high schools in Mombasa. From there Tahreni went to the US and obtained her 1st degrees in Computer Science and Biology, followed by a master's degree in Business Management in the UK.

Although Tahreni has travelled extensively and lives in Nairobi, she has never forgotten her roots and has become a role model for the women of the Lamu area. Living and working in different parts of the world has heightened her appreciation of the beauty and richness of the environment and culture of her home.

At the same time, the environmental degradation and poverty Tahreni has seen in East Africa, inspired her to try to help people everywhere. Tahreni believes that solutions can be found to these problems by creating eco-business opportunities
